“Hi J!!
We really need your help with something. We have a family coming in today for family funeral tributes and they want
an anchor made out of flowers on an easel. What would you suggest is the best way to go about this. We wanted to use something
with wet foam base if at all possible. If you have a good suggestion for that, we are open to it. The family is coming in
this afternoon,
please help.

Kim
and Pam,
You can use a CROSS Form! Attach half a Wreath frame to the bottom of the cross and it will form an anchor…
That is the way that I created one for the John Henry Sympathy Flowers book…
I cannot remember if the technique
was one that we showcased in the Sympathy Flowers Technique book…..
Here How: Use an AWL (or Ice-pick) and you can punch several holes through
the back of a MACHE’ Back Cross
form
Then cut a Mache’ backed wreath in half…(or actually in thirds… I
think it is better to use a
third) and then you can carve away a portion of the foam at the bottom of the cross to support the 1/3 wreath frame…
then punch corresponding holes in the Mache’ back wreath portion and connect with chenille stems…(pipe cleaners)
or barked wire from Knud Neilsen..
Then you can soak the whole thing and fill in with flowers… this is pictured in the JH Sympathy Flowers book(page 21) in the Blue Section with the Sail Boat on the altar… It will be really easy and you two will be great!
Thanks for asking… hope this helps!

“Thank you so much
for helping us out with the anchor. We think it turned out nice. We already received a call from the funeral home from the
family thanking us. We really appreciate your help. You’re awesome!!!
We are really trying to work it out to be able
to go to the Michigan Floral conference this year so we can see you in action in person!!!
Remember, if you ever decide
to do a webisode on a store, we are in the same state!!! lol
We are attaching a picture of the anchor so you can see how
it looked in the end. Pam put real rope on it as well. “
The anchor turned out AWESOME…they did such a great job… I emailed and asked them if
I could use this scenario in my blog to show how JTV Viewers get great ideas and run with them…
This was Kim’s Response! … and this is MY Favorite Part!

“J,
Hi, it’s Kim from Tantalizing Blooms. I just want to tell you that Pam is the one who made the anchor. I tell you this because I am so very proud of her. You see, I have been a designer for a long time, (23 years now) I started school back when I was only 16, but Pam has never had any formal training and we have only had our business for a year this month. She has come so far since we started this together and everyday, she gets better. I just wanted to tell you this because if you do put this in a blog, I want her to get all of the credit for that design since she is the one who deserves it.
Thanks,
